Marineware Spray Courses

As many of our customers will know, we have been running our annual Spray Seminars for a numbers of years now. With the increase in use of Special Effect paints and the challenges that they bring, we decided this year to run an Advanced Spray Seminar, as well as our normal course. The response has been so positive that there will be no question of it going ahead again next year, with two course dates available for both the Advanced and Standard Spray Seminars. The feedback from attendees was overwhelming, with one customer commenting ‘We found it very informative and have returned buzzing with enthusiasm, energy and ideas! We have highlighted a number of areas for our own improvement in terms of procedural controls etc plus information on some new, interesting products.’

As ever we owe huge thanks to Akzo Nobel, DeVilbiss and our fantastic Technical Sales Team who work hard setting up and running the course, as well as ensuring that attendees are fed and watered each evening too, so thanks to all involved!

If you feel that one of our spray courses could be useful to you or one of your employees, please contact your sales representative who will give you some more information and register your interest.

Marineware Advance Spray Course

This week marks the start of our ever popular Spray Seminars. This year we have added two extra dates in the form of an Advanced Spray course. With metallic and special effects becoming more in demand the course is designed to help with the application and the repair of these coatings as well as looking at the finer aspects of paint application. We are running the advanced course alongside our regular course which provides attendees with hands on experience of surface preparation, paint prep and mixing, spray gun use and an opportunity to see how a broad range of our Awlgrip products perform in ‘real life’. We are very grateful to DeVilbiss who allow us to run these courses from their facilities in Bournemouth. For more information, please contact our customer service department.

Blending Speeds

Gurit have a range of solvent free epoxy laminating and coating products, and each of these products has a range of hardener speeds. This allow the applicator to select the appropriate gel/cure time for their application, and the conditions they are working under.

But what if the slow will take too long and the fast will not give you enough time?

The Answer - blend the hardeners

This allows you to have ultimate control over the gel-time, working time or cure time you require.

As with all things this is not quite as simple as it wold first appear due to the exothermic properties of solvent free epoxy systems – but we can help you with this.  Epoxies as they cure generate heat as the resin and hardener chemistry polymerise, that is go hard. The greater percentage of Fast hardener the more this is going to be noticeable, and as the heat generated makes the epoxy cure faster it will go faster still.

But with a little trial and error – or better speaking to us – we can help you with the blend ratios just right for you.

Points to remember, only use hardeners from within the same system for example Ampreg 21 Standard blend with Ampreg 21 Slow. And always add the correct ratio of resin to blended hardeners by weight as the mix ratio by volume can be different as in the example below.
